Denmark introduces temporary derogations from driving and rest times
The deregations apply to transports of humanitarian aid and will be in effect until April 3.
As a result of the war in Ukraine, many HGV drivers are trying to help Ukrainian refugees. The Danish government has therefore decided to grant derogations from the rules on driving and rest times for lorry drivers and hauliers who are delivering goods to those in need.
According to the derogations:
- the daily driving time has been extended to 11 hours;
- the weekly driving time has been extended from 56 to 60 hours;
- the total driving time for two consecutive weeks has been extended to 96 hours;
- the maximum driving time before a break is required has been extended from 4.5 to 5.5 hours
- drivers are allowed take the regular weekly rest in the cabin of the vehicle.
