Holidays, public events and weekends. July will restrict trucks in many European countries – TABLE

The July calendar of truck driving bans covers many European countries and several key dates. This overview allows for a quick check of when restrictions may affect international transport.
❌ Particular attention should be paid to the Czech Republic. The beginning of the month marks an exceptionally long period of restrictions for heavy goods vehicles. On 5 and 6 July, national holidays take place – the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius and the Day of the Burning of Master Jan Hus. In addition, on 3 and 4 July, summer traffic restrictions apply. In practice, this results in four consecutive days during which carriers operating through the Czech Republic must take additional restrictions into account when planning routes.
❌ In the middle of the month, the industry’s attention is traditionally drawn to France. On the occasion of the French National Day, a driving ban for heavy goods vehicles applies on 14 July, with restrictions starting already the day before. This is one of the most important dates in the European ban calendar, as it affects not only traffic in France but also transport operations carried out through neighbouring countries.
❌ The consequences of the French holiday are also felt in Luxembourg. Due to the driving ban in France, restrictions are also introduced there for trucks heading towards the French border. This results in additional disruptions on one of Western Europe’s key transport corridors.
❌ In July, carriers must also remember about summer driving bans in countries such as Poland, the Czech Republic, France, Germany and Italy. Combined with increased tourist traffic and the holiday season, these restrictions may extend transit times and affect delivery planning.
❌ The table below presents the days in July 2026 when truck driving bans apply in individual European countries. This overview helps quickly identify when additional restrictions should be taken into account when planning international transport, avoid unnecessary delays and better organise transport schedules.

ATTENTION: As experience shows, in some countries last-minute changes are possible (e.g. additional exemptions in Slovakia or a “night window” in Hungary).
We also recommend checking driving bans in Spain, as well as in Catalonia, the Basque Country and Navarre, where regulations are particularly complex.
