Bulgaria: additional truck ban today on the A1, A3 and the road to Kulata

On Sunday, 2 August, an additional traffic ban applies in Bulgaria to trucks with a maximum authorised weight exceeding 12 tonnes. The restriction will be in force from 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time.
The ban applies in both directions on the following routes:
• A1 Trakia motorway;
• A3 Struma motorway;
• I-1 road through the Kresna Gorge, between the Simitli junction and the Kulata border crossing.
This is not a nationwide ban, but a temporary restriction on the specified routes. Its purpose is to improve traffic flow and reduce the risk of accidents during peak traffic hours.
Trucks travelling to or from Burgas may use the I-6 road as an alternative route. The diversion towards the Kulata border crossing runs via the II-19 through Gotse Delchev, followed by the III-198 and III-1981 roads to the junction with the I-1.
The ban does not apply to vehicles transporting ADR dangerous goods, live animals, perishable food products or temperature-controlled cargo. Specialised disposal vehicles and road maintenance vehicles are also exempt.
