Mont Blanc Tunnel to close repeatedly – schedule through the end of the year

From September to December 2026, the Mont Blanc Tunnel will be completely closed to traffic in both directions on multiple occasions. Most of the closures are scheduled at night, but one of them will last as long as 12 hours. The operator has published an updated schedule and cancelled some of the previously announced closures.

From September to December 2026, the Mont Blanc Tunnel will be periodically completely closed to traffic in both directions. The planned works will be carried out mainly at night, with most closures lasting from 22:00 to 06:00 the following day. The operator's latest schedule also includes a change to one of the October closures and the cancellation of several closures previously planned for September and October. According to the current forecast calendar issued on 7 August 2026, the tunnel will be closed on the following dates. The operator points out that the schedule may change and that updates are published on the tunnel's website and in the TMB Mobility app.

September
Two series of night-time closures are scheduled in September:
▫️14/15 September: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️15/16 September: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️16/17 September: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️17/18 September: 22:00 - 06:00.

Further closures:
▫️21/22 September: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️22/23 September: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️23/24 September: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️24/25 September: 22:00 - 06:00.
The closures previously planned for 28 September - 2 October have been cancelled. In the official calendar, all four nights - 28/29 September, 29/30 September, 30 September/1 October and 1/2 October - are marked as “CANCELLED”.

October
The first series of closures will cover the nights:

▫️6/7 October: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️7/8 October: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️8/9 October: 22:00 - 06:00.

The tunnel will then be closed for four consecutive nights:

▫️15/16 October: 22:00 - 06:00.

Further closures are scheduled for:

November
Two series of four night-time closures are scheduled in November:
▫️2/3, 3/4, 4/5 and 5/6 November: 22:00 - 06:00 each night,
▫️16/17, 17/18, 18/19 and 19/20 November: 22:00 - 06:00 each night.
In addition, the tunnel will be closed from 18:00 on 24 November until 06:00 on 25 November. This closure will last a total of 12 hours.

December
The final series of scheduled closures will cover four nights:
▫️14/15 December: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️15/16 December: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️16/17 December: 22:00 - 06:00,
▫️17/18 December: 22:00 - 06:00.

The tunnel operator points out that disruptions may occur as early as one hour before the complete closure and during the hour following the reopening of the tunnel. This is due to the possible passage of vehicles under escort.
