DENMARK – drivers only allowed to take reduced weekly rest in the cabin
The Danish Ministry of Transport has informed that from 1 July regular weekly rest in the cabin will be prohibited.
Drivers will not be able to park the vehicle in parking lots and motels along highways for more than 25 hours. This restriction applies to 90 state parking facilities located along the national network or motorways and main roads.
The ban will be followed on 1 January 2019 by the introduction of higher fines for failure to comply with required rest periods. The general fine for breaking the ban on taking regular weekly rest in the cabin will increase from 510 DKK to about 2000 DKK. The fines for parking at the entrance or exit of the parking lot will be raised from 1000 DKK to about 3000 DKK.
