France: Hauliers’ protests set to paralyze roads across the country

From today, France is facing a wave of hauliers’ protests that may seriously disrupt traffic on key routes, including the A7 and A71/A89 motorways. The actions are gradually spreading to more regions, increasing the risk of delays in international transport.

On the first day, targeted actions are planned, including so-called “filtering blockades,” which involve slowing traffic and selectively allowing vehicles to pass. The most significant disruptions are expected on the A7 motorway near Lyon and at the A71/A89 junction near Clermont-Ferrand. The actions are scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and may lead to major congestion on key transit routes.

However, the protests will not end there. Further actions are already planned nationwide. On Monday, major disruptions may occur in the Île-de-France region. On Tuesday, hauliers plan demonstrations in front of prefectures in Rodez and Nantes, while from Wednesday the protest movement is expected to extend to the southern region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
