Traffic bans for trucks in Europe

2026-07-01

Transport through Germany faces summer restrictions. Full list of affected road sections

In Germany, summer Saturday driving bans for trucks over 7.5 tonnes and truck-trailer combinations will be in force from 1 July to 31 August 2026. The restrictions will apply to selected motorway and federal road sections, including newly added stretches of the A113 and A115 in the Berlin area.

During the summer season of 2026, Germany will enforce seasonal traffic restrictions for heavy goods vehicles under the provisions of the Ferienreiseverordnung (Holiday Travel Regulation). The bans apply to selected motorway and federal road sections and are intended to relieve major transport corridors during periods of increased holiday traffic.

The restrictions apply to goods vehicles with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 7.5 tonnes, as well as vehicle combinations with trailers used for commercial transport, including empty journeys directly related to such transport operations. 2026 SUMMER DRIVING BAN MAP!

Compared with previous years, adjustments have been made to the list of restricted sections in 2026. The most significant changes concern the Berlin area, where the following new sections have been added:
● A113 - Schönefeld → Neukölln (towards Hamburg)
● A115 - Zehlendorf → Funkturm
In addition, the restricted sections on the A1 have been maintained and partially revised, covering two separate stretches of the route. The extension of the list reflects the ongoing effort to reduce congestion at Germany’s busiest transport hubs during the holiday season. This is particularly evident in the Berlin region, where transit and tourist traffic place additional pressure on an already constrained road network.

The summer driving restrictions in Germany are not absolute. The regulations provide for a number of exemptions, including the transport of perishable goods, combined transport operations, roadside assistance services, and certain special transport operations.
