HGV driving bans in Slovenia

Vehicles with a MAM over 7.5 tons are prohibited from driving on the following road sections in north-eastern Slovenia:

• G1-6 / Postojna - Ilirska Bistrica - Jelsane (the border with Croatia)
• G1-7/ Starod (the border z Croatia) - Kozina - Krvavi Potok (the border with Italy)
The ban applies to lorries passing through Slovenia from Italy and bound for countries such as Croatia (with the exception of the following Croatian counties: Istria, Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Lika-Senj), Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Romania and in the opposite direction.
HGVs with a MAM over 7.5 tons coming from Italy are allowed to travel through Slovenia along the above-mentioned roads provided their destination (e.g. place of unloading, the haulier’s base) is located in Croatia (this only applies to the following regions: Istra , Kvarner, Lika, Gorski Kotar) or, in the case of GHVs bound for Italy, the staring point of their journey (e.g. place of loading, the haulier’s base) is located in Croatia (this only applies to the following regions: Istria, Kvarner, Lika, Gorski Kotar).
The ban does not apply to vehicles transporting goods loaded in Slovenia and going to Croatia or to the above-mentioned countries and in the opposite direction.
The long-distance transit of HGVs with a MAM over 7.5 tonnes from Italy to Croatia (mainland), Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Romania, etc. and in the opposite direction is diverted via the A1 motorway and the A2 motorway Kozina-Ljubljana-Obrežje. The transit traffic of trucks with a MAM over 7.5 tons is diverted via the motorway connections (A1, A4 and A5).
